Sandro Scarmiglia

Sandro Scarmiglia was born in Rome in 1964 and graduated in painting at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in 1990. 

In the same year he begins his collaboration as an assistant designer for television programs on Rai and Fininvest. With the same qualification in 1996 he landed in cinema with the film "LUNA E L’ALTRA" by M. Nichetti. 

As a scenographer he collaborates to the realization of great events and conventions, later he signs scenes and costumes for theatrical performances including Hard Love by M. Lerner directed by Roberto Silvestri and Aria Nova by Pierpaolo Palladino with the direction of B. Maccallini. 

With A.m.r.e.f. and Dulcimer he participates to a humanitarian project project for poor children in Nairobi organizing the show "Mgona mtaani" which debuts in Italy at Umbria jazz in 2009.

Parallel to his professional career as a scenographer, he has always kept alive his deep interest for plastic research, finally arriving to sculpture.

Bora Baboci

(1988) was born in Tirana, Albania.
Currently living and working in Shkoder. 

She studied architectural design and criticism at the University of Toronto, Universidad Torcuato Di Tella in Buenos Aires and has a master’s degree in the same field at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. 

After few years of work experience in an architectural studio, research institution and the central government in Albania, starting from 2015 she worked as researcher and academic assistant at the Technischen Universität - Berlin, focusing on spatial production in the context of global migration. 

Since 2017 she has focused on developing
her own practice diffusing her work in spatial research with the visual and performative arts.

Rino Banko

geb. 1994 in Pula 
Studium der Bildhauerei in Rijeka, 2018 Abschluss zweijährigen Masterstudiengang.
Derzeit Assistenzprofessor an der Akademie für Angewandte Kunst in Rijeka, Abteilung Bildhauerei, und Mitglied der Kroatischen Gesellschaft Bildender Künstler Istriens.
Gruppen- und Einzelausstellungen im In- und Ausland (Zagreb, Rijeka, Kostrena, Opatija, Lovran, Labin, Pula, Umag, Piran, Koper (Slowenien), Düsseldorf). 

Arbeitskonzept für Salzburg:
"Die Werkreihe "Kerne" entspringt meinem eigenen bildhauerischen Denken und der Beziehung, die ich zu der Materie und den Materialien entwickle, mit denen ich arbeite. Im Falle des Steins umfassen diese Gedanken die Elemente, die ihn formen und die Strukturen, die seinen Abbau bestimmen. Elemente wie Wasser und bestimmte atmosphärische Elemente verändern ständig die Form organischer Materialien.
Was mich als Bildhauer interessiert, ist, wie ich diese "Modellierung", die durch verschiedene Einflüsse und Faktoren entsteht, nutzen und betonen kann und welche Beziehung zwischen natürlicher Modellierung und Zeit zusammen mit meiner eigenen Formgebung und meinen Eingriffen in dasselbe Material besteht."

Istvan Felsmann

Born 1984 in Budapest. Lives and works in Budapest.

Artist statement:
"In my art, I aspire to the interdisciplinary approach, I try to define the form by concept, therefore, there are no formal limits. I make sculptures, kinetic objects, performances. I would like to avoid aesthetics, I think the work can be timeless if it comes from the nature of its subject. I'm trying to find simple connections and through these to examine the big picture.
In terms of themes and subjects, I like to think about the future of fine arts (if is it possible get closer to the level of Malevich). I am interested in the mystery of the technological development of our time, the systems of social and political relations. I do not understand much how and how it works my art is often based on impressions."

Emily Donovan

Artist statement:
„I love being outdoors, watching things grow and learning about what colors can be made from nature. My paintings are created on paper with handmade dyes from natural materials using methods and recipes that are centuries old and shared by all cultures. The process includes a bit of chemistry, observation of plants and seasonal cycles and research. 

The layers of natural colors are representations of discovery, or the landscape where I gathered, the people who helped or memories about the day. I like to think each are a celebration of what the natural world has to offer and the age old traditions of making color naturally that are passed from one generation to the next.

Salzburg’s natural dye and pigment history is significant. The Hallstatt
region, located within an hour of the Künstlerhaus has textiles recently excavated dated to be over 3,000 years old. These artifacts are studied and colors have been recreated. During the residency, I propose researching the same colors and expand my knowledge with Weld, Madder and Woad. I would like to create a series of small-scale works with these pigments on paper.

I will include ideas about history and the use of natural color, its place in the Hallstatt region now and within the urban center of Salzburg. These works will create a sense of place inspired by the landscape and also provide a unique expression about Austrian’s tradition with natural color.“

Robin Bukhamseen

Film Editor and Filmmaker, Schweden.

Robin Bukhamseen born 1996 has created films since childhood until today. 
With three years of bachelor studies in editing she has perfected her intuition for emotional and physical movement in film.
Robin’s motto in her filmmaking is to go with the flow and to experiment.

Statement
I am visual artist, illustrator, nomadic gardener and art educator.
Walking, observing, asking, talking, being in silence, listening, imagining, picking, foraging, mapping and drawing are some of my tools. I focus on  processes of connecting, sharing, doing, being and learning together. At the moment I work on different collaborative interdisciplinary projects focusing on environmental and diversity issues in times of climate change. 

As an board member of the Mustarinda Association I work with projects intertwining art, science and ecological and cultural diversity.

Jurybegründung:
„Michaela Casková (Helsinki) beschäftigt sich mit Wetter- und Umweltbeobachtungen. 
Die Künstlerin gründet ihre künstlerische Arbeit auf ihr ökologisches Engagement. In Zentrum ihrer Arbeit steht die Beziehung zwischen Mensch und Umwelt, insbesondere auch die Auseinandersetzung mit der Klimakrise. 
Für ihr Ausstellungsprojekt macht es Sinn, dass Michaela Casková sich in Salzburg länger aufhalten und dazu das Atelier der Stadt im Künstlerhaus Salzburg nutzen kann.

Janina Kracht

geb. 1964 in Dresden

seit 1998 freischaffende Künstlerin in Dresden, Arbeitsgebiet Malerei, Kunst am Bau;
Stipendien und Auslandsaufenthalte seit 2012;
Seit 1995 Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen in Deutschland, Türkei, Polen.

In Salzburg plant die Künstlerin eine intensive Beschäftigung mit kristallinen Einheiten und Formen aus der Natur, um in der Auseinandersetzung mit mineralischen Strukturen neue Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten zu erforschen.

“Ich werde die Zeit nutzen, eine künstlerische Umsetzung dieses Themas in Malerei und Grafik zu entwickeln.
In den letzten Jahren entstanden Serien von Papierarbeiten und Malereien geometrischer Kompositionen in denen Farb- und Formvariationen seriell erarbeitete wurden.”
